Pupil Information

What is ‘Playing for Success’ and what will I do if I get involved?
If you are chosen to be a part of the Playing for Success programme, you will be given a chance to come to the study centre at the stadium and take part in 6 or 9 sessions which will give you an opportunity to work on your literacy, numeracy and ICT Skills….BUT….. it’s different to school!!!

The centre has lots of state of the art ICT equipment and you will spend time working on the computers…you could be using the internet, making films, making music, doing comic strips, taking pictures, getting involved in a video conference, recording sounds as well as using them to present your work. You may also get time to play a few games…. believe it or not, a PS2 is used as part of some of our sessions!

In literacy, you could be creating an article about your tour of the stadium or coming up with your own sport. You could be designing and advertising your own trainers and even making a TV program.

In numeracy, you could get a chance to do things like visiting the shop, designing kits for the team, working out the costs of merchandise or even compete against each other on the Play Station to collect and handle some data!!

How would I get to the Study Centre?
Pupils who come to the Playing for Success sessions are brought to and from the Centre in minibuses which will collect you from school and drop you off there when the sessions finish.

What do I get out of it?
Playing for Success will give you a chance to develop your skills in a relaxed, safe and friendly environment. At the centre there are smaller group sizes and more adults around to work with you and help you to complete the activities.

The type of activities you do will probably be very different to those in school and it will give you a chance to experience new and interesting ways to learn. You will get a lot of opportunities to work with the latest ICT technology and improve your confidence using computer equipment. You will also get the opportunity to work with a range of adults outside the school environment and this might give you more confidence in talking to different people.

Presentation Night
All pupils who participate in the Playing for Success programme are invited, along with their parents and families to a presentation event at the end of the term. There is a chance to see some of the work completed during the programme, prizes are given out for a range of achievements. We invite players from the club to come and join in at the event and present you with your work an certificate.
